BIAW Lunch & Learn Series – What is an Acquired Brain Injury?
August 23 @ 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm
FreeJoin us online via Teams during Brain Injury Awareness Week for our Lunch & Learn Series
A brief introduction to acquired brain injury, how this may impact someone, and tips in building your understanding.
Hosted and Presented by Brain Injury SA.
Did you know that 1 in 40 people in Australia have an acquired brain injury (ABI)?
Because of the complexity of the brain, no two brain injuries are the same, and in many cases, an ABI may be invisible to an outside observer, and a person’s appearance may hide the many significant challenges they are experiencing. These challenges may have significant implications for a person’s independence, social functioning, employment, family roles, mental health, identity and overall quality of life.
This session, What is an Acquired Brain Injury, will cover a brief overview of acquired brain injury, and the different ways it might impact someone in their everyday life; plus some key tips and suggestions for supporting interactions.
This lunch and learn session is presented by Brain Injury SA’s physiotherapy discipline lead, Frances, who has over 10 years’ experience working as a physio, with the majority of it in the neuro space. This session is a must for anyone that would like to gain an understanding of what an ABI is, and support in building a more inclusive and understanding society.
