Board Members
Shane Cheek – Chairperson
Shane is an experienced non-executive director and chair having served on several boards across technology, logistics, funds management and the NFP sector over the last 13 years.
Previously, he was Managing Partner at Acumen Ventures, a funds management company carrying growth technology, buyout and venture investment mandates across Australia and South East Asia. Earlier in his career he founded, grew and sold two companies in advanced manufacturing and enterprise software. He holds a Master of Science & Technology Commercialisation from the University of Adelaide, a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of South Australia (where he is an Adjunct Industry Fellow), and a Certificate of Transformational Leadership from Carnegie Mellon University.
Ian Clayfield
Ian is an experienced senior executive and Chief Financial Officer with an extensive background across multiple, high-profile state government, commercial and professional organisations, predominantly in the service sector.
Ian is a Chartered Accountant with a focus on sustainable growth. He has specialised expertise in financial management, corporate strategy development and performance improvement, financial governance, risk management, and procurement.
Matt Williams
Matt is a technology entrepreneur, and is the founder of Amplify, a strategy execution management software for large enterprises. Matt’s career has always been at the intersection of business and technology, starting his first business at 18 providing technology advice to small businesses in Adelaide. Matt holds a Bachelor of Business (Management Information Systems) from University of South Australia.
Matt is also a keen runner and dad joke enthusiast.
Tanya Lancaster
Tanya is an experienced non-executive director with a passion for good governance, strategic thinking, and effective risk management. With a desire for fostering inclusive cultures and making a difference in vulnerable communities, she brings extensive experience in leading large, diverse teams across finance, government, disability, and the energy sectors. Her expertise spans strategy development, operational and technology transformation, with a focus on Experience Management leveraging digital channels.
Holding an MBA and currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate of Cyber Security Governance and Risk Management, Tanya is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She brings a governance-focused perspective to the Board, and experience in implementing quality and risk management frameworks.
Tanya is passionate about the role strong NFP organisations play in society.
Mia Formichella
Mia Formichella was previously the Board Trainee at Brain Injury SA before being appointed as a full board member in April 2024. Mia is a lawyer, specialising in the area of real estate law, and has experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
Ian Byrne
Ian currently holds an executive role with AnglicareSA. He has 30 years’ experience in senior and executive management roles in diverse sectors such as aged care, financial services, health care and community services with a professional focus on marketing, communications, and operational functions.
Ian is a graduate of Deakin University, the University of South Australia, has undertaken studies at Oxford University’s Said Business School and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
He is also recognised as a Certified Practicing Marketer and Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute.
Julie Moralee
Julie Moralee’s journey in the arts sector spans a thrilling 30-year adventure in marketing, brand, and business development. Julie’s portfolio boasts an impressive track record of executing over 250 marketing campaigns, showcasing her adeptness in promoting independent arts companies and overseeing the promotion of large-scale productions and festivals.
Dedicated to inclusive arts practice, she currently serves as CEO of Restless Dance Theatre. Julie is also Vice President for East End Adelaide Coordination Group. Julie has completed governance and board training with the Leaders Institute of South Australia.

Board Trainees
Appointed for a two-year term, Board trainees are people with lived experience of brain injury whilst having a strong interest in the development of both Brain Injury SA and their own skills in governance. Appointment is via a selection process advertised in the first quarter of the year for commencement in July. Board trainees contribute to the Board in all ways whilst not taking on full responsibility as Directors, so do not vote on Board matters.
Richard Jones
Richard is an engineer, entrepreneur and founder of Sky Blue Collar, a business transformation company. He has wide-ranging experience across mining operations, data analytics, software development, engineering consulting, scientific computing, academic research and aerospace lecturing. Richard is a Harvard Business School alumni and holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Adelaide. He also has personal experience of brain injury after a virus damaged his vestibular nerve, which required several years to fully recover.
