Position Purpose:
To maximise the impact of therapy on the achievement of participant goals.
Key Challenges:
Therapy program implementation, participant engagement and support, record keeping, teamwork.
About the Role
To support the delivery of therapeutic services to participants with acquired brain injury through the implementation of a prescribed program of activity or exercise.
We have a casual part-time opportunity available, in the Southern Rewire Hub, for an enthusiastic Allied Health Assistant with a passion for working with Neurological clients. Your role will be to support the delivery of therapeutic services to clients with acquired brain injury to help them to reach their goals. As an Allied Health Assistant you will implement prescribed programs of activity or exercise as developed by an Allied health professional. This may contain components of Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy or Dietician and will be a combination of individual and group sessions. Most sessions will be conducted in the Southern rewire hub, with some sessions out in the local community. At present the role will be 2 days a week but there is potential to increase this, based on the need of our participants.

You will by supported by the enthusiastic and empathetic Southern Rewire team to build the necessary knowledge and skills.
We are an organisation working with the multiple facets of brain injury and other neurological conditions – road trauma, sporting accidents, tumours, strokes, disease etc. and as a result our services deliver to a group of people and their families that is very diverse in age and need from service provision. We provide services under a variety of funding streams.

About you
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team and take direction from the team
- Be personable, enthusiastic, pro-active and able to build strong rapport with participants and team members
- Have a high level of resilience and drive to continuously learn
- Hold a current unrestricted driver’s license
Skills and experience
Completion of certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent qualification (current Physiotherapy/OT/speech/Psych students encouraged to apply).

Qualifications/Registrations/Experience
Essential
- Cert IV AHA, or relevant qualification
Desirable
- Any relevant training or certification in understanding disability, brain injury and community service provision

- Manual handling including the operation of rehabilitation and assistive equipment
