Position Purpose:
To provide and assist in the development of high-quality Occupational Therapy service provision to meet the needs of the clients of BISA.
Key Result Areas:
Clinical Service Delivery, Interdisciplinary Practice and Teamwork, Quality and Safety.
Key Challenges:
Maintaining a complex caseload (in line with level of experience) and minimum 4 billable hours per working day, building up to 5 billable hours per working day.
Position Summary
Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapist is responsible for the provision of Occupational Therapy services to a community-based adult caseload with Acquired Brain Injury.
Duties include:
- Providing Occupational Therapy services and evaluating best practice within a multidisciplinary team.
- Maintaining evidence based and contemporary practice.
- Implementing innovation to problem solve the needs of people living with brain injury.
The incumbent also assists the Senior Occupational Therapist by:
- Contributing to the development of Occupational Therapy services within BISA as a member of the Occupational Therapy team.
- Pursuing evidence-based practice and innovating in service delivery when required.
- Contributing to the skill development of OT students.
Position Requirements
Key Result Area 1: Clinical Service Delivery
Objectives
Applying clinical skills (appropriate to level of experience) to assist participants of Brain Injury SA and growing knowledge in relevant specialist areas of Occupational Therapy.

- Close collaboration occurs with the Senior Occupational Therapist, and other members of the Allied Health Team to ensure participant needs can be accommodated and good service planning occurs.

- Therapeutic disciplines work collaboratively to identify and best address the needs of participants, enhance service delivery outcomes and influence service development.
- Students of all disciplines receive support, training and appropriate role modelling for professional and accountable practice from all qualified staff.
- Advice (relevant to discipline and level of experience) is available as needed to members of the Rewire team and Senior Management team in clinical discipline specific matters.
- Occupational Therapist is supported in providing Occupational Therapy service development and achieving best practice through excellence in collaboration and communication.

Increasing understanding of brain injury by the broader community for enhanced inclusion and accommodation.

Qualifications/Registrations/Experience
Essential
- Relevant qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Professional Registration with AHPRA.
- A current driver’s license.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills incorporating excellent communication, organisational and negotiation skills.
- Current DCSI Child Related Employment screening/Working with Children Check.
- Current DCSI Disability Services screening/NDIS Worker Check.
- Current Police Check.
Note: Successful applicants who are New Graduates (<2 years post graduate experience) will be engaged under our New Graduate Framework, making provision for required specialist learning to work in the field of brain injury and neurology.
Desirable
- NDIS knowledge / experience.
- Experience in Neurological Occupational Therapy assessment and service delivery with Adults with ABI
