Helping People With ABI Without Making Them Helpless

Working with individuals with behavioural challenges with Dr Tim Feeney

This seminar will be an informative and engaging professional development experience for people working in the brain injury field. People living with brain injury, family members and students are also encouraged to attend.

The seminar will cover:

– A collaborative approach to brain injury therapy: working with families and ‘everyday people’ to build positive everyday routines

– ‘Behaviours of concern’ and how to reduce them

– The process of rebuilding identity

– Common pitfalls for therapists

There will be an opportunity for Q&A as well as afternoon tea and networking.

Where: SAHMRI Auditorium, North Tce (note: this venue is accessible for people with disability)

Cost:
$40 for people working in the field of brain injury
$20 for students
FREE for people living with brain injury, their families, and informal carers

Dr Tim Feeney

Dr Tim Feeney is Chief Knowledge Officer at Belvedere Health Services – a community-based rehabilitation service in New York State.

Over the past 30 years, he has made a significant contribution to the field of acquired brain injury through his work as researcher, psychologist, educator, and director of large-scale projects assisting people with ‘behaviours of concern’.

He has authored over 50 scholarly journal articles and book chapters.
