Occupational Therapy is a Rewire Therapy Service available at Brain Injury SA.
This Service is for:
Occupational therapists (OTs) work to improve or maintain an individual’s independence, safety and participation in daily activities.
The term ‘occupation’ is used to describe all the everyday things we do in our life. This includes all the things we need to do, as well the things we want to do. Occupational therapy can therefore focus on any activity you need or want to do.
OTs work with the you and your family to help you achieve goals and adjust to changes in life roles
Assistance from Occupational Therapy
Areas OTs can assist with include:
- Equipment that can help you to be independent
- Home modification to help you access all areas of your home safely
- Upper limb function
- Self-care (including bathing and toileting)
- Shopping
- Cooking
- Cleaning and home maintenance tasks
- Community access and public transport
- Thinking, memory and fatigue
- Leisure and community activities
- Volunteer and paid employment
- Financial management
- Rest and sleep
- Parenting and carer responsibilities
- Education about brain injury
