Can I use this referral form for all services provided by Brain Injury SA (BISA)?
We have a referral form for Rewire Services and a different referral form for Advocacy and Appeals Services. Please select the appropriate form for the service you are seeking. Give BISA the information requested on the applicable referral form as well as you can and our staff from the program that you are referring to will contact you via phone and/or email to assist.
I think BISA services can assist me, but can I access more information on how this might be funded?
People can access BISA services in a number of different ways. Please see the Referral Management Information.
What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme, or NDIS is a Federal Government scheme that provides funding to eligible people living with a disability. The funding provided is to enable them to access the supports they need and achieve their goals. More information on the NDIS, eligibility and access in our Services section on this website. What is “Rewire”?
Rewire is the name we give to our collection of Therapy services tailored for people with an Acquired Brain Injury. Rewire takes an interdisciplinary approach, meaning that therapists from different disciplines all work together to assist you to achieve your goals.
Can I refer myself to BISA?
Yes, you can. The sorts of situations when you might want to do this are:
- You have an NDIS plan and are looking for services that you think Rewire might be able to assist with. (View Services)
- You are wanting to access our Advocacy or Appeals Services
- You want to directly purchase our services, having identified your own or other funding options to do this. (View Referral Management Information)
Can I find out more about the services BISA provides including Rewire before I make a referral?
Yes, you can. There is more detailed information in our Services section on this website or if you can phone BISA on 8217 7600 and ask to speak to a Service Co-ordinator.
How do I make a referral?
Fill in our Referral Form Online with as much detail as possible and hit send. Alternatively, you can ring BISA on 8217 7600 and ask to speak to a Service Co-ordinator. They can assist you complete a referral over the phone if needed.
Once a referral is received someone will contact you within 48 hours to respond to your service request.
Who can use this referral form?
Anyone can use BISA’s referral form to refer on behalf of a future participant with their knowledge and consent. Support Co-ordinators, General Practitioners, Therapists, Family Members/Support worker, Service Providers.
How do I pay for BISA’s Rewire Therapy Services?
Unless you are self-managing your NDIS plan or paying for the services yourself, we will invoice the provider or manager of funding directly. This requires us to have an agreement with you and them in setting up the services to ensure everyone knows what services are being provided and what they cost.
If you are self-managing your NDIS plan or funding the services yourself, this agreement will be only with you and we will send the invoicing directly to you.

Do you have Doctors at Rewire?
No, we don’t have Doctors on staff, but we can assist you find ways to confirm your diagnosis of a brain injury to access services. Sometimes this may be through one of our Advocacy Services or sometimes your funding body may refer to the Rewire Therapy Team to help gather more information with you about your disability and need for services.
